Bao loved bread. Soft bread. Sweet bread. He loved it all!

Bao went to Mrs. Rabbit's bakery.

“Any new bread today?” Bao asked. Mrs. Rabbit shook her head. “Just the same bread today.”

Bao felt sad. He liked Mrs. Rabbit's bread. But he wanted to try something new.

Bao sat under a big tree. He yawned. His eyes closed. Then —

WHOOSH! The tree grew and grew. Up into the sky! Bao held on tight.

Up, up, up! Bao was in the clouds. “Where are we going?” he asked.

Uh-oh! Bao slipped and fell. POOF! He landed on a soft cloud.

Bao sat up. He saw towers in the clouds. “Look! A city in the sky!”

Squish, squash. Squish, squash. Bao walked on the soft clouds and into the city.

Bao saw a little shop. It was a bakery! The Cloud Bakery!

Bao saw lots of funny buns. A little cloud was in the shop, too.

“I'm Puff,” said the cloud. “My bread is magic! Try a bun!”

Bao took a white-cloud bun. He took a big bite. “Mmm! Sweet as cotton candy!”

White clouds filled the sky. More and more and more! Now the whole city was white.

The dark-cloud bun was soft and sweet. It tasted like sesame. The lightning bun went CRUNCH! POP! CRACKLE!

The sky went dark. FLASH! KABOOM! A big storm!

Bao tried a raindrop bun. It wobbled like jelly. SPLISH, SPLASH! The rain came down.

Bao picked up a sun bun and a rainbow bun. “Will these make the sun come out?”

The sun bun was warm and sweet. The rainbow bun tasted like ice cream. The rain stopped! “Look! The sun! A rainbow!”

“Want more?” Puff asked. “Try these!” A star bun. A moon bun.

Crunch, crunch. The buns tasted like cookies. The moon came out. Then the stars. Bao and Puff watched the sky.

Puff had one more bun. Bao could see right through it. “What's that?” he asked.

“A wind bun. Try it!” Puff said. Bao took a bite. The wind tickled his nose. Tiny lights danced around him.

Bao went up into the air. “I'm flying!” Puff flew beside him. The city was far below.

They flew over houses and hills. They flew over a river. “Time to go home!” Puff said. “Come back soon!” Bao waved goodbye and flew home.

Bao flew over the shops. The windows were bright. He did a little spin. “Flying home is fun!”

Then the tiny lights went out. Bao fell. Down, down, down — right toward the big tree! “AAAAAH!”

Bao woke up. He was under the tree. His feet were on the ground. He was safe.

“It was a dream,” Bao said. He was safe, but he felt sad. “I want to see Puff again.”

One tiny light came out of Bao's bag. Then another. And another! Bao smiled. “Hello again,” he whispered.
